A wonderful set of baskets to make. The rectangular shaped baskets have slip on rims. There are 5 baskets in this series. The 3 smaller baskets are shown. All 5 baskets nest. This is an excellent set to make to learn the skills needed for both “nesting” Nantuckets and rectangular Nantucket Baskets..

These sweet little nesting baskets all have slip on rims. Make all three nesting baskets and add a handle and/or lid. Denise and I ordered the series with a handle for the largest basket and a scrimmed lid for the smallest one…..now if we just had time to weave them. Please email or call if you would like a cover for the smallest Doc Magee. The covers range from $10-$100 depending on the material and custom scrims.

NEW MOLD!! NEW BASKET!!!
was designed by David Ross after a sugar bowl he brought Joni-Dee from England. The lid “sits” down on a delicate rim. The lid forms the bottom part of the knob. The staves are walnut weavers. The walnut weavers look just like walnut hardwood staves when the basket is complete, but they are easier to work with.

The Ross Special mixes hardwood staves with cane staves to create a lovely basket. This is made on a 6” round mold.

The 15” Tall mold makes the tall bucket, a bowl with a lid or a tray. This is a really cool mold with several options because of its diameter and height. The one that I am working on will have a wide 1” flat stock rim and a handle to compliment the basket. The knobs are ivory capped walnut knobs.

For people who like a larger purse the 9” seems to be just right. Please note-the purse in the picture has a special lid that may not be available-please email or call Joni-Dee if you are interested in a lid similar to the one pictured. The basket can be made in cherry, walnut, maple, or ebony.

The Nantucket cradle will take two 4 day retreats with homework in the middle. If your weaving time at home is limited or you weave slower -you might reserve three 4 day retreats to make the cradle. There is only 1 mold available at the moment (we may be able to get another mold). The custom stand will be fitted when the cradle is completed

We added a small backpack this year. Denise pegged the rim of the small backpack and did not lash it. A close up of the rim is shown later in the brochure. Large and small backpacks are available.

The ice bucket is very very useful with hardwood staves and cane weavers and a pattern woven to show off the hardwood staves. There are several size ice buckets available so you can choose the perfect size to fit your needs.

Learn to attach the handle of a Nantucket basket with wood ears. This is simple and classic. Choose from a 6", 7" or 8" traditional round Nantucket. Weave a classic basket or design a pattern in your basket. The basket will be finished with a TRADITIONAL (nailed and lashed) rim and the handle will be attached to the basket with wood ears.

The 4” or 5” Lamp is a great compliment to the 6” lamp. The 4” Lamp is 4” in diameter and 7” tall not including the shade. The 5” lamp is 5” in diameter and 8” tall not including the shade. This lamp is adorable and is made on a tall mold. The lamp may be made with handles or without handles.
Lamps can be made with or without handles.

The Flower Pot Nantucket comes in 3 sizes. Shown is the 5" Flower Pot in walnut. Notice the pattern at the top of the basket. This very easy pattern works well on almost all nantuckets. There is also a 6" and a 7" Flower Pot.

The Sand Pail is a unique nantucket. This nantucket flares gently and looks lovely standing alone or with flowers in it. Every time I look at this basket it reminds me of my childhood when I would build sand castles on the beach! Pictured in Cherry with cane staves and weavers.

Make an 8” Black and White Tote/Purse - Weave a twill (step) design to show off the black dyed cane staves. Complete the basket with an ebony lid.

The Jailhouse Nantuckets-the Jailhouse Nantucket has a beautiful oblong shape. It comes in 5 sizes. The jailhouse set does not nest but all 5 make a lovely collection. The staves are hardwood (although you could choose cane), the rim is a wide flatstock rim (my favorite rim) and the knobs are ivory capped wood knobs.

A stunning nantucket to treasure for generations to come~The Apple Bucket is 13 1/2" in diameter. 3/4" hardwood staves and cane weavers are used. This is a wonderful basket is put a pattern in. The knobs are cherry and ivory. The lid is cherry with a 1" ivory capped knob that looks wonderful scrimmed. The rim is a 1" flatstock rim. There are only 6 Apple Bucket molds available per Retreat! Sign up early to reserve the mold.

I use my backpack all the time My backpack is done in walnut with hardwood staves and it fits and feels just right. The weavers are cane and the staves are walnut. I did not put a pattern in this nantucket because I did not want to "catch" the weavers while using the backpack. The leather straps complete this basket. There are now 7 backpack molds available per retreat. Sign up early to reserve the mold.

This awesome tote make’s Lisa’s Tote seem small. It is great to carry supplies anywhere. The one pictured is made with cane staves instead of hardwood staves so it would not be too heavy. I added ivory feet to the base to protect the walnut base. I also wove a pattern in the basket. I will place my scrimshaw in the middle of the pattern when it arrives!

The 10” Black and White Tote This classy and striking tote has black leather braided tote handles and ivory knobs.. The base will be ebony. The rim is maple. Ash staves dyed dark black are used with natural cane weavers. Consider using this mold to make a tray or dresser basket with lid.

The napkin Ring/Toothpick Workshop includes the Napkin Ring mold and 4 napkin ring kits along with one toothpick kit.

Lisa’s Tote is a wonderful Nantucket Tote. This tote has handcrafted Cherry hardwood staves, a cherry base and rim. The braided leather handles match the cherry wood. Woven with cane the leather handles are attached with ivory knobs and washers. Brass escutcheon pins and screws are used also. The tote shown has an ivory scrimshaw attached to a cherry back plate. The scrimshaw and back plate are additional. Feel free to call Denise or Joni to discuss scrimshaw designs if you are interested in one, so that the scrimshaw and back plate are here when you complete your tote. The Lisa’s Tote is 13 ¼" x 7 ¾" at the top of the basket with a circumference of 32 ½". It is 12 ½" tall.

Trays are the best buys in Nantuckets because you are not paying for handles and knobs. All trays can have hardwood staves or cane staves. The photo is a picture of the 13 ½” tray done in walnut with CANE STAVES and weavers. Another option is to make any tray with cane staves or black ash staves. Consider using dyed and space dyed cane in your tray.

The scrimshaw prices are listed below the scrimshaw. The one in the picture is the large oval on a cherry backplate attached to a Lisa’s Tote. Backplates are an additional $11 each and this price includes the brass screws.

Consider adding an ivory piano key with your name on it to any handle. These are very reasonable and add beauty to your Nantucket or add a custom scrimshaw to your basket base, or knobs. Please allow time to order for classes.
