Wooden Boat School Day 3

Day three at the wooden boat school. Remember all those wires we put in to stitch the boat together before epoxying it?  Well, we pulled most of them out today!  Then the hull was flipped back to right-side-up and we sanded the interior.  We made a mixture of epoxy and wood flour and filled the joints on the interior of the boat (fillets).  Then, we laid down a piece of fiberglass and covered it in epoxy.  Finally the breast hook was screwed into the bow.

Take care!

David

Removing those wires we stitched in yesterday. Good grief!

Back upright.

There is apparently a lot of sanding in boat building.

Fillets around the transom

Fillets are a mixture of epoxy and wood flour spread in the joints for strength.

Fillets in the hull.

Fillets between hull and bulkheads.

Me taking picture of Joni taking a picture of the boat.
